Pearls of Southern Ukraine Kyiv – Kaniv – Dnipro – Zaporizhya – Askania Nova – Odessa (10 days, 9 nights) Day 1: Kyiv Meeting at the airport. Transfer to the hotel. Walk in the city center. Overnight.      Day 2: Kyiv Arriving to Kyiv. Breakfast. Panoramic city tour in the capital of Ukraine and the cradle of Eastern Slavonic states. The tour includes Golden Gates and Vladimir’s hill, which is supposed to be the place of foundation of Kiev-city, Bogdan Khmelnitsky’s Monument, National Opera and Ballet Theater, St. Vladimir’s Cathedral - a splendid architectural pearl, with beautiful paintings of V. Vasnetsov and St. Michael’s Golden Domed Monastery founded in 1108, Kyiv Founders’ Monument, Khreschatik Avenue, Independence Square - the scene of many notable events in the capital city of Ukraine. Visiting St. Sofia Cathedral - the world famous historical and architectural monument of the first half of the 11th century. The cathedral is famous for its mosaics and frescos by Byzantine masters. It is the first monument in Ukraine listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Free time for personal visiting and chopping along Andriivsky Descent - a street-museum, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Kyiv. Overnight.      Day 3: Kyiv Breakfast. Visiting The Holy Kyiv Pechersk Lavra - the Orthodox Christian monastery that is the holiest place of pilgrimage in Ukraine. It was founded in times of Yaroslav the Wise in XI century and is one of the most ancient monasteries in Old Rus. Trinity Church, the Assumption Cathedral (renovated in 2000), the Refectory Church and the labyrinth of the Near and Far Caves, with their relics of saints, are real masterpieces of world architecture. Free time. Optional tour to Folk Architecture Museum Pirogovo - the biggest open air museum in Europe which offers a great collection of our national ethnographical heritage. There are approximately 300 unique objects of folk architecture, dating back to XVI−XX centuries from all the regions of Ukraine. During the visit you will see unique collections: windmills, watermills, forges, an old traditional sauna, village administration houses, a church school, a priest mansion, cafes named “shynok”, huts, barns, stalls, cellars etc. Overnight.      Day 4: Kyiv – Kaniv – Dnipro Breakfast. Departure to Kaniv, where the burial place and the Memorial Museum of the great Ukrainian poet are situated. You will discover a lot of information about a personal and artistic life of T. Shevchenko that will help you understand better his important role in the world literature. Admire a splendid panorama of the Kaniv Reservoir from Tarasova (Chernecha) Hill. Departure to Dnipro. Overnight.      Day 5: Dnipro Breakfast. Dnipro city tour. Walk along Yekaterininsky Avenue, visit Potemkin Palace and Preobrazhensky Cathedral created in traditions of Russian Classicism, and drive along a breathtaking 40 km long Quay built on the wave-built sand. Then to Dnipro river parks, those are considered to be the monuments of landscape gardening of the 18th century, and visiting Monastyrskiy Island – one of the most interesting places in the city. In the IX century, the Byzantine monks based a monastery there. It was destroyed by Mongol-Tatars in the XIII century. Optional 1h motorboat or yacht voyage after we end our Dnipro tour. Overnight.      Day 6: Dnipro – Petrykivka – Zaporizhya Breakfast. Trip to Petrykivka. During the trip you will explore the Petrykivka settlement, a place where famous Petrykivka-style painters live. We visit art studios and showrooms, where you could take a closer look at the Ukrainian painting technique, well-known worldwide. Departure to Zaporizhya. We stop for a breathtaking view of the huge dam of Dniproges – famous first Soviet hydro-electric power-station in Zaporizhia. Overnight.      Day 7: Zaporizhya – Khortytsia Breakfast. Panoramic city tour. Zaporizhzhia is one of the largest regional centers of Ukraine – a remarkable industrial and cultural center, and an important river port. You will learn about the development of Prydniprovsky region, to visit the central avenue of Zaporizhya. Ride to the biggest island on the Dnipro river – Khortytsa Island the former place of the famous Zaporozhskaya Sich -the main Cossack host (XVII-XVIII century) and an important center of Ukrainian statehood. Overnight.      Day 8: Zaporizhya – Askania Nova – Odessa Breakfast. Departure to Askania Nova - the oldest and largest biosphere reserves in Europe, located in a remote part of the Kherson steppe. Nowadays, this unique island of primordial nature, where live many rare animal species and exotic plants, is recognized as one of the Seven Wonders of Ukraine and is a part of the world network of UNESCO’s biosphere reserves. Departure to Odessa. Overnight.      Day 9: Odessa Breakfast. Panoramic city tour including Primorsky boulevard, Shevchenko Boulevard, named after a famous Ukrainian poet, legendary Potemkin Steps - an entrance to the city from the sea, magnificent Opera and Ballet Theatre designed by 2 Viennese architects in a French rococo style, Duc de Richelieu’s Monument - a founder of Odessa, Alexander Pushkin’s Monument, Dormition Cathedral, Vorontsov’s Palace . Free time on Deribasivska Street – the heart of the city. It is a must-visit place for all the tourists where you will find a great selection of cafés, restaurants and shops Optional tours on your choice: - Odessa Catacombs - a maze of underground tunnels that makes up a distance of approximately 2,500 kilometers. The catacomb is a large, mysterious labyrinth filled with hidden caves. You will uncover the fascinating history of Odessa’s Catacombs during a 500 meters walk (0.3 miles) through the underground tunnels. - Fine Arts Museum. This museum is located in the former private residence of Count Pototsky, which was purchased by the city and inaugurated in 1899. The 26 halls host a variety of intriguing exhibits - from ancient icons to modern art. Kiprensky, Topinin, Ayvazovsky, Vrubel, Roerich, Benua and Levitan are just some of masters whose art adorns the museum’s walls. Overnight.      Day 10: Odessa Breakfast. Transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
