Babi Yar is the natural ravine in northwestern Kyiv which was chosen by German occupational forces as a place for massive murdering of Jewish, Roma, Ukrainian and other people. In late September 1945, a few days after the occupation of the city, placards appeared on city buildings’ walls, ordering all Jewish people, under a threat of death penalty, gather on the road crossing near Babi Yar. According to German documents, about 30 thousands of people were killed there only in first three days. And it was only the start of the tragedy. Ukrainian nationalists, mental patients, war prisoners and other unwanted people followed numerous Jewish population of Kyiv. Horrible fascist atrocities lasted about 2 years. During Babi Yar guided visit, you are offered to learn more sad facts about this place and the events related to it. For you to see the exact place of massive executions, the ravine itself and the park joined to it, the memorial complex of Babi Yar, and other monuments.

Savka House excursion. You will go to a small village 11 km from Kiev to the ethnic House-Museum called Khata Savky (Savka's House). Its hospitable owner collected inside it numerous ancient household items and made a museum out of it. You can not only see what items Ukrainians used traditionally, but also try to hammer some iron thing. Savka’s wife will offer you rich Ukrainian dinner with traditional borsch, vareniks and pies and you will listen to the stories how Ukrainians lived, celebrated holidays and worked before.

The State Aviation Museum. The State Aviation Museum of Ukraine was opened in autumn of 2003. Its exposition covers over 0.2 sq. km. More than 50 planes and helicopters are on display here. They were flown by the USSR and Ukrainian Air Forces or in civil aviation.

The collection contains Tu-22 “Backfire” strategic bombers, the world’s largest Mi-26 helicopter, the world’s fastest combat intelligence aircraft MiG-25, flying three times the speed of sound and the super-large wide-body Il-86 airbus.

Visitors may sit in the cockpits of jet airliners and combat helicopters to “handle” them and feel for themselves the thrill of being a pilot flying a transcontinental airliner or combat helicopter!

The park of Sophie, “Sofievka” of Uman is 2 hours away from Kyiv. It is the park of 150 hectares of extraordinary beauty. Each detail of the park has an aesthetic and functional meaning: artificial caves, water jets and cascades, tops of hills, channels, and labyrinths crowned by fountains, houses, small temples, sculptures and marble statues of gods, goddesses, philosophers and poets. The Cave of the Thunder and the Terrace of the Muses, the View-point and the Fountain of the Dragons, the cave of the Lions and the Venus cave, the island of Love and the Crete Labyrinth, the Spiral Mountain and the Valley of the Giants, the Dead Lake and the underground River Styx, the Cave of the Doubts and the Alley of lovers — this is only incomplete list of all miracles of this legendary park.

Pirogovo Folk Architecture and Life Museum. Pirogovo is a national museum that preserves the culture of the Ukrainian people. All historical and ethnographic regions of Ukraine are represented over an area of more than 150 hectares. It is the biggest open air museum in the Eastern Europe! It is the biggest open air museum in the Eastern Europe! Three hundred ancient rural huts, collected from all over Ukraine can be seen in Pirogovo. The majority of them were moved to the museum and then reconstructed. Huts, wooden churches, water and wind mills, also clothes and kitchen utensils dating back to the early 17th century and up through the 20th century give every visitor a realistic impression of traveling in time.

The main value of the museum perhaps lies in its naturalness – walking around its large territory you will not just see the museum exhibits but enjoy real Ukrainian nature, listen to folk music, get to know folklore and culture of the country of different centuries.

National Art Museum of Ukraine was founded in 1899. It has the most representative collection of Ukrainian figurative art in the world. Collection of the museum numbers almost 40 thousands exhibits, among which masterpieces of Ukrainian painting, sculpture, and graphics from Kyiv Rus age to nowadays are represented.

Museum has one of the best Ukrainian icon collections which opens with the rare object of the 12th century – polychrome wooden relief “Saint George with hagiography” of Byzantine origin. The works of all masters related to Ukraine can be found in the museum collection. There are beautiful pieces of decorative and pictorial art, icons and old parsuna style portraits, works of T. Shevchenko, N. Pimonenko, G. Narbut, A. Murashko, V. Krichevsky and many others.

The Ukrainian Baroque period art collection is extremely valuable. There are paintings, icons, polychrome sculptures and old books in the collection.

The real gem is the collection of Ukrainian avant-garde of the twentieth century. There are the works of the famous set designer A. Petritsky, constructivist V. Yermilov and futurist O. Bogomazov. The Ukrainian period masterpieces of such recognized masters of the avant-garde as Alexandra Exter, Alexander Archipenko and D. Burlyuk are in the collection too. 

The museum of the Second World War. The museum was founded in 1973. The complex combines the Museum building and the Motherland statue (62 meters high), a gallery of sculpture commemorating the heroes of the battlefields, the Glory Cup (16 m diameter), and an exhibition of arms from World War II. The main display is located in a 5.000 square meter sapce and includes more than 12,000 relics. Numerous exhibits containing documents from military commanders and soldiers, including orders, medals and letters, and documentary evidence from war witnesses, all pertaining to the occupation and subsequent liberation of Kyiv and Ukraine present a fascinating glimpse into this pivotal time in Ukrainian history.

Chernobyl Catastrophe Museum. This Museum tells the story of the world’s largest and worst radio-ecological disaster, a nuclear catastrophe at the Chernobyl Nuclear power station, the liquidation and consequences of the disaster and the post-Chernobyl ecological situation in Ukraine.

More than 7,000 exhibits are displayed in 5 large halls containing once-secret documents, maps, photos, personal belongings, and housekeeping items from the rural life of the Chernobyl region. Many exhibits are exposed for the first time and they help to realize the planetary measures of Chernobyl's disaster. The exposition is equipped with all modern technical audio/visual aides and research facilities Documentary films are shown.

Podol historical area. Podol is a living history of Kiev, the legend of Kiev, the oldest settlement of this land, an inexhaustible source of Kiev tales and anecdotes. It is the birthplace of the city's trade, commerce and industry. Here, at Podil, there were markets, occurred trade fairs, appeared the first Kiev pharmacy, the first mill, the first water supply system, the first power plant, and the first Kiev higher educational institution.

Deep in the atmosphere of the early twentieth century. During the excursion around Podil you'll see its attractions such as the Kiev-Mohyla Academy, Kontraktova Ploscha – Contract Square (the Contract House, Gostynny Dvir (trading complex), the 'Samson' fountain, Bogoroditsa Pirogoscha Church, Florovsky Monastery, Pharmacy Museum, Mykilsko-Prytyska Church and many other great historical and architectural monuments.
